Cromwell Place is a first-of-its-kind arts space and membership model, with rentable exhibition space, office space, viewing rooms and art storage. Cromwell Place offers a programme of rotating exhibitions, with the week divided to accommodate appointment-only viewings as well as public opening hours.
The challenge was to create an identity for this unique gallery concept within five Grade-II listed buildings dating from 1857-60, one of which was originally occupied by the celebrated Victorian portraitist Sir John Lavery.
We created a bespoke redesign based around the architectural plans for the space, crafting a modernist identity that reflected the ever changing exhibition spaces, while paying tribute to the rich cultural legacy of the South Kensington based site. The mission was to integrate the revolving exhibitions into each part of the identity, so that the art and those who created it became integral to it’s presentation.
